#1: Harry Styles - As It Was

As well as supporting unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar music - we鈥檙e here to represent every musician who鈥檚 come from Herefordshire & Worcestershire. How can we ignore the biggest artist on the planet? Yes, Harry Styles was born in Redditch, grew up in Evesham and his third album went straight to #1 outselling every other artist in the countdown. It was also the fastest selling album - ever - on both sides of the Atlantic. As It Was became the longest-running #1 and best-selling single of 2022, while in America the song spent 15 weeks at the top becoming the longest-running number one by a British act and the fourth-longest-running #1 in the chart's history. As It Was was also confirmed as the most streamed track on Spotify with a massive 1.5 billion plays throughout the year. Oh, and it was #1 in 35 countries, too - so, even if you were to bundle every other act in our region together as a single entity, he still outstripped the lot of them! So, by far the most successful artist in Worcestershire in the last 12 months.

#2: Camden Cox - Over

This Redditch singer has been writing banger after banger - teaming up with Weobley鈥檚 220 Kid, Deadmau5 and Joel Corry having 鈥榚arned her stripes鈥 in the dance music world. She鈥檚 now a regular on radio stations across Europe and this particular track was written about breaking up with somebody but still having to live together because of lockdown.

#3: Becky Hill, David Guetta & Ella Henderson 鈥 Crazy What Love Can Do

Becky Hill is an artist we discovered way back in 2010, long before her time on The Voice, who鈥檚 spent more time at the top of the charts than she has in her native Worcestershire! This Bewdley songstress has been on fire, releasing hit after hit with some of the world鈥檚 biggest artists and was awarded a residency at Ibiza Rocks. Between gigs, she found the time to return to her old primary school to inspire the children and then landed a BRIT Award for Best Dance Act resulting in one of the most memorable speeches of the ceremony!

#4: Big Image - Crazier

A big sound and a big image - quite literally! This band, whose individual members have featured on this list before, originally called the project Ivory Wave and have been in our top tens in the past. But, after reinventing themselves, this bunch of Worcestershire lads have been mixing Britpop with dance beats landing TV opportunities and playing at sports grounds across the land. When not making music of their own, they also run studios in Stourport helping the next generation of artists.

#5: Conflict Choir - What Are You Doing It For?

And, surprisingly, not a choir! A band with one of the biggest sounds we鈥檝e heard in the last decade but, in fact, there鈥檚 only two of them. Both session musicians performing with other artists, this lockdown project formed in a garage in Bromsgrove and have been writing stadium rock ever since. We loved their music so much that we put them on stage at Lakefest during the summer and they certainly didn鈥檛 disappoint!

#6: Weirdo - Mother Of Pearl

He's our former Artist of the Week and we met him whilst moving back home from his former haunt of Berlin in between lockdowns. Redditch鈥檚 Weirdo has had support from our national radio colleagues at 主播大秀 Radio 1 and 6 Music - and, in his old guise, his tracks got into the US Billboard dance charts! Josh Christopher Yeomans says he writes cheesy catchy electropop but it all 鈥渒inda went wrong鈥 when his songs went viral and he wasn鈥檛 ready for the attention. The same thing happened again a few years later but he says he鈥檚 finally ready for the limelight and is pleased to be releasing his finest work to date.

#7: Slow Tapes - The Love

A new discovery of ours for 2022 from a Worcestershire/Gloucestershire/West Midlands band who鈥檝e been growing their sound for the past three years, Slow Tapes describe their music as "neon-soaked '80s LA sleeze rock to modern guitar driven stadium fillers".

#8: Sasha McVeigh - Fine Line

The Hereford country superstar continues to go from strength-to-strength after realising Nashville was her spiritual home. Having played around the UK to "polite audiences", crowds went nuts when she took her country sounds stateside, playing their favourite genre but with a British accent! Having performed across the whole of North America and at multiple festivals, the government granted her a green card and she landed regular work and residencies on Broadway in Nashville.

#9: Rosso - Imagine

We fell in love with this Hereford duo just before the pandemic and managed to put on a socially-distanced gig on the permanent outdoor stages of Nozstock to an audience of 0! But since that virtual performance, they鈥檝e teamed up with the multi-award winning Tim Prottey-Jones, from Droitwich, on production. The sound they鈥檝e been achieving since has put them at the top of their game.

#10: Jiksaw - Devil's Drip

This band, who span both counties, absolutely exploded onto the local music scene, after the pandemic, with their high-energy loud and proud face-melting rock sound. Having performed a stunning session for us at Hereford College of Arts, we went on to put them forward to play at Glastonbury.
