"What was available in the area was full of old people, so we decided to form our own".

Back in 1973 the Gateway Ladies Group was founded in Coventry after a group of ladies felt other social offerings at the time didn't suit their needs or age group. The women went on to be part of the National Women's Association of Clubs, and along with others lobbied government for change. Over the years they've enjoyed many a day trip to factories across the UK and continue to meet on the first and third Thursday evening each month, at Christ the King Parish Centre in Coventry. They've raised tens of thousands of pounds for local, national and international causes, their first fundraiser raised funds to train a dog from Guide Dogs UK, something that changed one of their members lives forever. Beryl went on to puppy walk their dogs for ten years and later worked with Dogs for Good.

Beryl Rounsley and Janette Jones are two of the original members and have shared their memories and future hopes with 主播大秀 CWR's Marian McNamee.
