An initiative which helps steer troubled teenagers away from a possible life of crime and back into education could be axed at the end of March. The 'In Your Corner' scheme run by Monkstown Boxing club supports around 250 young people and their families in the Monkstown and Rathcoole areas.

Paul Johnson, Project Manager at the club, stresses the importance of the scheme in "developing life skills." He says that it would be "such a shame" to lose the funding.

The Department of Education funded programme runs out next week and has not yet been renewed because there is no budget allocation to Northern Ireland. Helen Jones visited the Monkstown club to see what sort of impact the closure of the scheme could have on the young people and the wider community.
