Romanian FM: ‘What is important is to help Ukraine’

Bogdan Aurescu says that it is his government’s policy not to comment on the extent of military support that Romania is providing to Ukraine.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bogdan Aurescu, has told the that it is “more efficient” and “better for Ukraine” not to disclose the extent of its military support.

A career diplomat serving his second term as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Aurescu told Stephen Sackur that at the end of the war in Ukraine “many things will be known…But what is important now is for Nato and its allies to be able to help Ukraine in an efficient manner.”

When challenged about public support in Romania for assistance offered to Ukraine, Foreign Minister Aurescu stated that the level of support in Romania is “quite large”.

"Ukraine is the victim of the aggression, and this is very clear for the large majority of Romanians, there’s no doubt about that”, he added.
