Archive interviews spanning more than 30 years with George Michael, Andrew Ridgeley, Pepsi and Shirlie, and Simon Napier-Bell, plus a brand new chat about Wham! with Andrew.

In order of appearance:

Andrew Ridgeley (June 2020, Radio 2) – around the publication of the paperback of his book Wham! George & Me – the first time that Andrew had told his story and looked back on his amazing pop career in the 1980s.

George Michael (August 1990, Radio 1) – George did just two promotional interviews ahead of the release of his 2nd solo album Listen Without Prejudice and the book Bare, and one of them was for Steve Wright In The Afternoon.
As well as discussing these new projects, George also talked about the Wham! days and his life as a superstar.

Simon Napier-Bell (June 2022, Radio 2) – Simon co-managed Wham! at the peak of their career, and was a driving force behind their ground-breaking trip to play live in China in 1985. In 2022, he released the documentary George Michael: Portrait Of An Artist which he’d made.

Pepsi and Shirlie (September 2021, Radio 2) – Helen "Pepsi" DeMacque and Shirlie Holliman (as they were in the early 1980s) discuss their time as backing singers in Wham! Shirlie knew George and Andrew from school, while Pepsi got involved later after Dee C Lee left to join the Style Council.
They were guests on The Big Show in 2021 when they published their joint biography Pepsi and Shirlie: It's All Black and White.

George Michael (March 2004 / May 2006, Radio 2) – an interview as part of George Michael Day on Radio 2 in 2004 (to mark the release of his album Patience and the single Amazing) and a return visit in 2006 (to promote a new single and his first tour for more than a decade).

Andrew Ridgeley (May 2023) – a new interview with Andrew, recorded around the 40th anniversary of Fantastic – the debut album by Wham!
He looks back on his days in one of the most successful groups of the ‘80s and shares memories of the time, and previews a new deluxe boxset and album release called Wham! The Singles: Echoes From The Edge Of Heaven (which he thinks George wouldn’t have entirely approved of!) plus the Netflix documentary Wham!
