24 Hours in Russia: from rebellion to retreat

How will Vladimir Putin respond after averting a full-scale mutiny led by Russian mercenary force, the Wagner Group.

Russia has been shaken by an attempted armed mutiny. It was even worse for Vladimir Putin that the apparant insurrection against the country's military leaders was led by Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin - who has the Russian president to thank for his elevation to power.

First, Mr Prigozhin took control of a city in the south which is key to Russia's military campaign in Ukraine and then sent a convoy of fighters towards the nation's capital Moscow. Then it was all over, with the Wagner Group boss calling the whole thing off and sending his men back to their bases.

For 5 Questions On, 主播大秀 Monitoring's Russia Editor Vitaliy Shevchenko explains why Putin faced this brief rebellion and what this could mean for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
