She was the Israeli Prime Minister during one of the toughest periods in the country's history - the Yom Kippur war of 1973.

Now Oscar winner Helen Mirren portrays Golda Meir, known as the 'Iron Lady' of Israel, during her most difficult period, in the new biopic 'Golda' which will release in Israel and the US next week.

The British co-production has caused some controversy because of its casting, with some complaints that Golda Meir should have been portrayed by a Jewish actor.
