Pelosi: Biden鈥檚 age does not deter Democrats
Fmr House Speaker defends Biden鈥檚 age, but says Democrats 鈥渉ave to communicate better鈥�
Senior Democrat Nancy Pelosi has told HARDtalk that 鈥淒emocrats support Joe Biden鈥� and 鈥渢hey鈥檙e not supporting somebody else because Joe Biden is old鈥�.
When asked by HARDtalk host Stephen Sackur if 80-year-old President Biden should hand over power to a younger generation, she said: 鈥淣o, Joe Biden is the President of the United States鈥� we have a great president
Her remarks come after recent polling suggested a majority of Democrats are concerned that the US president is too old to serve a second term.
Speaking to the 主播大秀 at Lake Como in Italy, the former Speaker of the US House of Representatives said that 鈥淛oe Biden is wise, he has knowledge鈥� and that 鈥渉is presidency has been so successful on the domestic front鈥�.
鈥淗e has empathy, and cares about working class families,鈥� she said, adding that 鈥渨e have to communicate that better to the American people鈥�.
Congresswoman Pelosi has represented her constituents in California for 36 years and was the first woman to lead either chamber of the US Congress. In January this year, at the age of 82, she stood down as House Democratic leader saying it was time 鈥渇or a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus鈥�.
The legislator said she was confident Biden will win the 2024 Presidential election.
