A.I. is like an 鈥榓lien invasion鈥� that鈥檚 鈥榓lready here鈥�, warned Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari in an interview with the 主播大秀. Speaking to the HARDtalk programme, Harari said: 鈥楾his invasion fleet is indeed on the way. But not from another planet but from California and China and the laboratories. They鈥檙e already here.鈥�
The author of the bestselling book 鈥楽apiens鈥�, acknowledged to Stephen Sackur that there is the possibility A.I. could bring positive things, like 鈥榗ure cancer鈥olve climate change鈥reate new kinds of music.鈥� But he was concerned about the extent to which artificial intelligence could control - and in his view already is controlling - much of human civilization. 鈥楾hey are taking control of more and more parts of the financial system, the cultural system, of the world鈥�.
Harari said human beings are 鈥榗ocooned by culture鈥�, and 鈥榮haped by fairy tales and music and art and mythology and political ideologies鈥� which up until now have always been created by humans. Now A.I. will create 鈥榤ore and more of the stories, the music, the images, even the mythologies and ideologies鈥�. This challenges the fundamentals of human society, Harari said. 鈥榃hat would it mean to grow up, to be a human in a world, inside an alien culture, which increasingly shapes me and everybody else around me?鈥�
