Episode 5 of 8

The Firm prepares for the start of the long-awaited Scottish Covid Inquiry, and shock revelations hit the headlines.

As The Firm prepares for the start of the Scottish Covid Inquiry, the bereaved families that they represent gather to share their experiences of a disease that touched everyone around the country. The Firm鈥檚 mission is to ensure that these stories don鈥檛 go unheard, and to thoroughly scrutinise decisions made by the government throughout the pandemic.

Aamer is invited to appear on Piers Morgan鈥檚 show to discuss Shamima Begum, the British woman who, in 2015, at only 15 years old, left the United Kingdom to join ISIS in Syria. Her age at the time of her departure led to debates about whether she should be treated as a victim or a willing participant. Controversially, in 2019, while she was living in a Syrian refugee camp, the UK government revoked Begum's British citizenship. As Aamer and Piers go head-to-head on the issue, The Firm鈥檚 trainees watch the interview intently to gain valuable insight into how Aamer campaigns.

After rearranging his busy schedule, and with his loyal PA Naz in tow, Aamer attends to an important family matter: shopping for his child鈥檚 birthday. Just when everything seems to be going smoothly, shock revelations hit the headlines, and Aamer is back fighting for the families who lost loved ones to Covid.
