Assisted suicide is banned in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with a maximum prison sentence of 14 years. In Scotland, it can be prosecuted as murder or manslaughter. But Dame Esther Rantzen says the law needs to change. She has stage 4 lung cancer and says she is considering assisted dying if her condition gets worse.
