Capturing the photographic 'sweet spot'

Richard Sabin, from the Natural History Museum, on this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award.

British amateur photographer, Nima Sarikhani, won the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award. He captured this stunning photograph of a polar bear off Norway's Svalbard archipelago.

Richard Sabin, the curator of mammals at the Natural History Museum, and a judge on the panel for the award, tells us what makes this year's winning photo so astonishing.

Produced by Lucy Acheson.
