Is it too hard to get SEND help?

5 Live listeners share their stories with Nicky Campbell.

A Ö÷²¥´óÐã investigation has found that some councils in England aren’t meeting deadlines to issue documents which set out the support needed for children with special educational needs or disabilities to access education. Councils have a legal time limit of 20 weeks, in most cases, to issue what's called an education, health and care plan (EHCP). Councils say growing demand and insufficient funding cause delays. The government says funding for those with complex needs is rising and councils are responsible for making sure children receive appropriate education. 5 Live listeners shared their experience of SEND - special educational needs or disabilities – with Nicky Campbell.
