The phantom hitch-hiking airman of RAF Wickenby

The station housed Lancasters in World War II.

RAF Wickenby was one of dozens of Lincolnshire air stations which were home to squadrons of Lancaster bombers during World War II - and like many similar sites, spooky events have been reported ever since.
It's claimed a ghostly hitch-hiking airman has been seen on a nearby road, while the ghost of a Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) radio operator haunts the control tower. Image courtesy of RAF Wickenby Memorial Museum.
