The Italian striker, who has died aged 59, was the top scorer at the 1990 World Cup.
Italian football journalist Nicky Bandini says football icon Salvatore Schillaci will be remembered as embodying āa moment in timeā and being āthe spirit of a summerā for his performances at the 1990 World Cup.
Schillaci, who has died aged 59, was top scorer at his home World Cup, where he was also awarded the Golden Ball as the best player and gained hero status.
The former striker, who was better known as 'Toto', played for Messina, Juventus and Inter Milan, and was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022.
Bandini shared her memories of Schillaci and how he will be remembered with Sport Todayās Nick Hatton.
