Senior executives from Twitter and Facebook have been grilled by the US Senate Intelligence Committee answering questions on how they plan to prevent disinformation and meddling in the run-up to mid-term elections in November. Google was also invited, but did not attend after declining to send its chief executive, Sundar Pichai. A global construction boom is driving demand up for builders, most of whom are men. Complaints about discrimination and hostile work environments have kept women away, but things are starting to change.
