India pledges net zero carbon by 2070

India's leader Narendra Modi committed his country to net zero carbon emissions by 2070.

India's leader Narendra Modi committed his country to net zero carbon emissions by 2070. We get reaction to the pledge, made at the UN climate summit in Glasgow, from Sunita Narain, director of the Centre for Science and Environment in Delhi. And we get a summary of all the other significant developments at COP26 from the 主播大秀's Matt McGrath. One of those was a pact signed by more than a hundred world leaders to end and reverse deforestation by 2030. Elodie Toto reports on a possible alternative to deforestation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where rainforest is often turned into charcoal for fuel. Also in the programme, a digital token inspired by the popular South Korean Netflix series Squid Game has lost almost all of its value as it was revealed to be an apparent scam. Matt Binder of Mashable explains the background. Plus, on Purple Tuesday, which aims to raise awareness of the value and needs of disabled customers, the event's founder Mike Adams discusses the problems people with varying disabilities have experienced online.

Today's edition is presented by Rob Young, and produced by Nisha Patel and Gareth Barlow.
