Living in Moscow's Shadow

After President Putin鈥檚 invasion of Ukraine, other former Soviet republics like Georgia and Moldova are feeling vulnerable. Like Ukraine, both countries want to join Nato and the EU. But both also include small pro-Russian 鈥榮tatelets鈥� - Abhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia, and Transnistria in Moldova - which are similar to the separatist areas of Luhansk and Donetsk in Ukraine. Given what鈥檚 happened to Ukraine, should these neighbours learn to live with an expansionist Russia next door, or prepare to defend themselves and risk provoking President Putin into fresh military action?
