Global Dancefloor: Beirut

In Beirut, a DIY community is trying to keep nightlife alive amid Lebanon鈥檚 political and economic crises. Frank McWeeny meets the people behind the Grand Factory.

Lebanon is going through its worst economic and political crisis in history. The country's currency has lost 90% of its value, the government has resigned and over half of the population lives below the poverty line. Frank McWeeny heads to Beirut to meet the nightlife community behind The Grand Factory club, and explores how DIY culture here survives even during chronic lack of economic opportunity. This scene is fighting tirelessly to remain active, whilst protesting against corruption, and rebuilding both physically and psychologically after the 2020 explosion.
