Jobs for musicians in orchestras are few and far between and recording contracts are just as difficult to come by.
But now a new London orchestra has been set up to help young musicians make the transition from college to professional life.
Jennifer Chevalier meets Claire Hawkes, one of the 32 members of the new Southbank Sinfonia.
