Ìý Walton Opera Monday 25 November 2002 Ìý
One hundred years' ago the town of Oldham gave birth to one of its most famous sons - William Walton.

He was to become one of the 20th Century's best known composers and to celebrate his centenary another composer, Errolyn Wallen has been invited to create a community opera.
Errolyn Wallen was born in Belize and the town now has a mixed musical culture, brought by immigrants from all over the world, which Walton could never have dreamed of.
Lynne Walker, the music critic of The Independent met Errolyn and heard her work.
