Opera goes to the movies, and movie music comes to life, as maestro Matthew Kofi Waldren and the �� Concert Orchestra salute the genius of Puccini in �� Radio 3's Friday Night is Music Night.��

Glamorous stars, great tunes and adventures beyond the imagination…let’s face it, opera and the movies have more in common than they’d like you to think! Tonight, live from the ��’s legendary Maida Vale Studios, these two worlds collide - and make beautiful music.

We’re talking epic movie themes from The Sea Hawk to Star Wars, plus showtunes from Les Mis and South Pacific (sung by West End sensation Tyrone Huntley). And with the aid of opera stars Anna Patalong and Charne Rochford, the �� Concert Orchestra toast opera’s greatest showman, the man who created blockbusters before the silver screen was even invented – the one and only Giacomo Puccini.

Expect hits from Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La bohème and Turandot (Nessun dorma, naturally), as well as a nostalgic tribute to Hollywood’s superstar tenor Mario Lanza.��

Friday Night is Music Night – and some thrills are too big for any screen.

Tickets will be allocated by random draw.

How to be in the audience

Step 1: Apply for tickets

Tickets for this show are being allocated by random draw, so when we receive your ticket request your details are added to the list of applicants. Applications are accepted until the publicised closing date/time.

Step 2: Receive a message

Once the random draw has closed all eligible requests are entered into the draw. If successful, we notify you by text message and send your e-ticket(s) to your email address. If unsuccessful you will be kept on the waiting list in case anyone cancels their tickets.

Step 3: Bring your tickets and ID

We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people. Remember that every guest must bring original approved photo ID.

Please note that tickets are non-transferable. They cannot be transferred to another date or to a person who is not named on the ticket. If your application for tickets is successful, your tickets will be printed with the name of the person who applied. The name printed on your tickets must match the name on your approved photo ID otherwise you won’t be admitted. If you request two or more tickets because you are taking a guest along, all tickets will be printed with the name of the person who made the ticket application.��Our tickets can only be used by the person named on the tickets, accompanied by any guest(s) they wish to bring along. Every additional guest aged 18 and above must also bring a form of photo ID from our approved list. Photo ID must be original and in date (copies and out of date ID won’t be accepted). If you cannot provide this proof you will be refused entry. Please note that all guests must be accompanied by the named ticket holder to ensure entry.

Please note that there are no refreshments available at �� Maida Vale.

You will be permitted to take an A4 size bag or smaller into the venue.��One bag is allowed per person. We class small bags as no larger than A4 size or standard handbags. Backpacks, travel cases, laptop bags and large tote bags are NOT permitted inside the venue.

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people.

Duplicate applications will be disregarded.
