Hello there,

Well, yes it's true, I've decided to hang up my headphones!!!

There are many reasons I guess and any one of them would not have made me make this decision, but when they all come together, it just seems the right thing to do.

Firstly, there is our (Chris's and my) involvement with adults with learning disabilities.听 We have two (and possibly soon to be three) people living with us permanently. The work involved with that is all-consuming and although very hard work, we have found it to be SO VERY rewarding.

Then there听 is the family.听Sunday is the only day that we all seem to be able to see one another because of their work commitments and, by the time Chris and I get home, the dinner is cooked and we sit down together, it's almost time for them to go.

Mum figures in this too. So many of you have been so kind with your good wishes and over the last 14 years you have been involved with her life.听She has been in hospital with pneumonia, not once but twice.听She has had a mastectomy, MRSA twice, a stroke and just recently a heart attack.听All that on top of her emphysema.听

She's 86 in a few weeks time and I swear she's so strong, she'll outlive us all !!听 Seriously though, she's not able to come up and stay with us for weeks on end like she used to, so now, instead, we will go to HER every other Sunday.听

We like to look back on the good times though. You were with us when we took her to visit Buckingham Palace and to see a West End musical, although "Joseph" WASN'T the religious performance she expected - ha ha ! She did however enjoy Phantom of the Opera which we also took her to see.

You were there when we took her, aged 82, for her first long haul flight and went to Disneyworld in Florida for 3 weeks. I have never seen her so animated and so happy.听 We had a ball and she loved it and lapped up every single second.

You will, I hope, understand the importance of seeing Mum at every available opportunity now.

I wanted to say a big Thank You too, for helping me raise over 拢11,000 for 主播大秀 Children in Need, by buying my cookery books, for which I will be eternally grateful.

I have had the most amazing time at 主播大秀 Radio Shropshire and met many wonderful people and done some fascinating things over the last 14 years. I hope that I may be back occasionally to cover for other people's holidays, sickness etc., so as the old saying goes, it's not "Goodbye" but "au revoir".
