After a successful 2007 at the UK box office, superstar Akshay Kumar, now takes control of the wheel as the driving force of Bollywood's most ambitious road trip movie to date - Tashan.

Playing 'desi' gangster, Bachchan Pandey, in his own, inimitable 'tashan' (style), Akshay Kumar is seen in a diesel-fuelled road trip from Rajasthan to Haridwar.

The film marks a welcomed return to the action-flick genre that first clinched Akshay Kumar's success in the Bollywood film industry.

Incorporating state-of-the-art special effects, Tashan has action sequences performed by Akshay himself, marking the first in a series of high-octane, action flicks lined up for 2008.

These include Studio 18'sÌýSingh Is King, directed by Aneez Bazmee and filmed on the Australian Gold Coast, and the first ever Warner Bros venture into mainstream Bollywood – Chandni Chowk to China.

Commenting on Tashan, Akshay said: "I'm really excited about this film. It celebrates a return to the action genre for me and has given me the opportunity to showcase my physical and technical skills which, for me, are my art."

Yash Raj Film's Tashan, marks a new concept in Bollywood action film-making, which will surprise audiences.

Tashan also stars Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles and it releases this week in UK cinemas.
