This is the first time in 30 years that The Stranglers have invited a journalist into their studios. Needless to say, Vic Morgan leapt at the chance to spend some time with the members of what is probably the most enduring band of the UK punk/new wave era. Responsible for such classic songs as Peaches and Golden Brown, The Stranglers first got together in 1974/75. Courting controversy from the outset, the band has survived several line-up alterations and numerous changes in musical direction over the years.

Vic Morgan spoke to bassist Jean Jacques Burnel, one of the original members of The Stranglers, about the past 30 years, and the band's changing sound, style and influences. JJ said: "I'm surprised we've lasted for so long - I think we're entering uncharted territory now.
