So who won the hotly contested slot? For many bands, the pinnacle of their career is playing the legendary Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival. Appearances on that stage can boost a musician's career- Pulp in 95, David Bowie in 2000 and Sir Paul McCartney in 2004 are just some of the legendary Pyramid Stage performances. So it's no surprise that the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition attracts thousands of entrants. Festival organiser Emily Eavis said it was great how the competition had developed and that it's a "brilliant opportunity for people to see live music". Some of those people included record company's scouts and gig promoters.

"The whole night was put together so nicely and they really thought about what each band brings and everyone was different," said Swimming. Last year's winner, Liz Green, also returned to perform an acoustic set featuring a kazoo and she also managed to get the crowd to sing-a-long to a song about booze. So who won? The judges were so impressed and couldn't decide upon a single winner. The Travelling Band and the Golden Silvers will both play the main stage however every band will have an opportunity to play the festival. They've just got to work out how to fit them in now. last updated: 01/04/2008 at 09:20 You are in: Somerset > Glastonbury Festival > News and Weather > Bands battle it out for slot at Glastonbury Festival Thurs 25th to Sun 28th June Glastonbury 2008 |
