"As the family expands, so does responsibility."

Transcript

"It's funny how life changes. It only seems like yesterday when my sister and I were the new generation of the family. Yesterdays don't last forever. And tomorrows are always fast in their approach. None more so than on April 1st 2001. When a new generation of the family finally arrived and made me an uncle.

It wasn't long before I had the pleasure of changing nappies, helping with bottle feeds, and acting the clown in the hope of providing some comical entertainment in order to dampen the baby's screams.

All this work didn't go unnoticed. Soon I had the honour of being asked to be a godfather. Was I ready? Could I be trusted? Of course I couldn't, but this is a form of responsibility that I was willing to accept with open arms.

The new generation quickly became accustomed to the old generation's ways. Steadily developing her unique personality that was soon to enchant and mesmerize everyone that came into contact with her. She's cute, funny and intelligent.

Somebody my influence for her quirkiness and peculiar ways, but I would say that she's just one in a million and was born just for the purpose of putting smiles back on our faces. It doesn't mean that she's in any way perfect but it does mean that there's always an extra seat at my table for a little girl called Mia. My favourite niece."
