Newspaper boys in Swansea went on strike in 1978. They demanded an additional 25 pence a week to bring them in line with other delivery boys in the area.
In October 1978, John Craven's Newsround reported that newspaper delivery boys in Swansea had gone on strike. The boys had demanded an additional 25 pence a week pay rise to bring them in line with the pay of other newsaper delivery boys in Swansea.
Newsagent owner Peter Siford was not in the mood to negotiate with the striking boys and decided to employ girls instead.
