Who has already won from South Africa 2010 - and who has lost?

I'm about to walk over to a restaurant on Vilakazi Street in Soweto to help with the preparations for a big do we're hosting today. The first hour will be WHYS and we'll look at who in South Africa has benfitted from this World Cup and who hasn't. The next hour (also live across 主播大秀 World Service) will see us launch WCHYS with fans from every team that's here.
We'll update as the day goes along on Flickr, twitter (me, Mark, WHYS), Facebook (WHYS, me) and here on the blog. As ever, your questions are as welcome as your comments.
And we want to ask - who are the winners and losers of the World Cup preparation?
The tournament may not have started, but the preparations are six-years old. Eye-watering amounts of money have been spent, and can that be justified when water, electricity, schools and hospitals need urgent attention. South Africans will tell us, and of course you can respond to what they say

The money can be justified because the outcome of racial cohesiveness, world attention, deeply-felt pride, restorative healing. Such a coming together, and financial support through tourism, will amplify the financial and social progress tenfold. - Kelly Mcguire

if the lives of the people there aren't improved after the world cup as it hasn't since the 90's then no the expenditure can't be justified . This is there chance in south africa to stop corruption and change peoples lives for ever , some how I think it will be wasted - Roger Patterson

Even if a great percentage of the money was spent on stadiums,the expenditure on roads and tourism publicity is enormous and the expenditure will be far more than recovered. - Governor Felix Rotich

I believe that its coming to Africa, esp SA, has helped a great deal. Infrastructural development created a feeling of belonging to the African population and also help demystify the fact that Africa is always seen as backward, lacking in abilities and unable to develop, years after we were independent. Africa it's our time, lets go 4 it! Achiki Mulla

It can't be justified. But it's here, so we might as well enjoy it! Football unites. Let's just hope and pray that the government does some hard work after the SWC, because people need basic services very desperately. Football doesn't feed the starving poor. - Fiona Zerbst
