The 5 live Septemberfest igloo
I'm writing this in the in Gateshead. We're just outside the spectacular , and there's a event happening around us, before tomorrow's race. Basically, loads of people, bright sunshine, and a great atmosphere. I just saw the legendary wandering around.
We've got people trying out presenting and commentary, and some of them are really good. One guy was so convincing as he described a Torres goal that I involuntarily did the silent clenched fist thing. Rachel Burden, Jacqui Oatley and George Riley are around to offer advice, but I think they're sneakily discouraging the more promising ones.
Watch our video to find out more about Septemberfest and the igloo.

Earlier on, we did Fighting Talk in front of hundreds of people in the Sage, with the whole thing streamed online. 5 live Weekend Breakfast is also here, with Phil at this morning, and Rachel doing the Great North Run preview tomorrow. From 9am, we'll have full coverage of the race itself.
We're heading back home tomorrow, and we've had a great time. Unfortunately, I might have to go in the van again.

I am sure all these OBs are great for the people there, and sound like a huge party for the presenters, the background noise, especially of the interminable Papal visit, made the broadcasts impossible to concentrate on content as the external noise was so high. Shelagh trying to broadcast whilst a helicopter hovered overhead is a good example -couldn't it have been switched to the studio? Not to mention the background racket in the north east. When you have had such OBs before, for example when Vicky did the election broadcasts, they were very professionally presented.

I read the sports news and met George Riley which was cool. Although I am a bit gutted if I went at another time I could have met Jacqui Oatley!

So why not save money and replace all the news, sports, travel and weather presenters with minimum wage interns? How difficult is it to read a prepared bulletin on a screen? And when they've done that they can leave the studio and let the presenter earn their money rather than use up programme time bantering.

Left with a good impression of 5live and the prsenters especially colin Murray who goes beyond the call of duty to talk to the audience before and after the shows. I thought the igloo lets a lot of children get involved. The video in the blog demonstrates this well.

@TheWesthillDon - Thank you. The feedback we've had from everyone who came to along to the Septemberfest events has been brilliant.
