I have listened to him at various stations over the years and he never fails to amuse and inform with an encyclopaedic knowledge of trivia and an eclectic musical mix.

Danny's one of the last remaining reasons to listen to 5Live. He's innovative and an absolute master of the medium of radio and interacting with his listeners.

All I can do is wish him the very very best in his fight against cancer and I truly look forward to his return to the station when he's feeling up to it and then, finally, when he's free of the disease.

I think Danny is a terrific broacaster.

He has a common touch,coupled with an articulate and witty delivery.

He seems to be able to talk about almost anything,and to everyone from whatever background.

And as a fellow football fan, he is the tops. A proper fan,who can talk football because of just that. He supports a less than fashionable club( to say the least) rather than most of the presenters who seem to have 'adopted' a successfull club as their team, and thus have excluded themselves from the real foitball family. Danny is family.

As a previous poster has written, he is one of the best reasons to listen to Radio 5 Live, both when I used to listen to the pirate ship 606 on a Tuesday night, and now on Saturday mornings. So, all the best mucker and I'm sure you'll beat this and be back to normal (well as normal as he wants to be!) asap

Lets not get mawkish folks, Dan never seemed one for sentiment and I'm certain he will be returned to us a new man, besides its the nurses who I feel sorry for He'll be chewing their ear off no doubt.

I've been listening to your show for years. The best broadcaster on the Radio.
You're the best interviewer on TV or Radio. I love it when ever you have Stephen Fry on. He feels so relaxed when with you, and you seem to get more from him than anyone else does.. The Elton John show was also great. You make all of your guests feel at ease with your unique questions based on your obvious respect and knowledge of your subjects.
I know you will pull through this, and be back stronger than ever.
I shall have a sausage sandwich for you (Red sauce of course).

This is shock News, even to an experienced Broadcaster.
Danny makes people smile, sometimes the way he acts can be irritating but it makes up for it for giving people a smile and his antics on TV just add to what he cannot show on Radio.
I would hope that he has a speedy recovery and returns as soon as possible because he will be missed by TV and Radio Audiences alike.
And anyway despite the news, he's still upbeat!

Saturday morning show a highlight of my radio week. I love the way the program just seems to roll along without any script and structure and I guess that shows a real talent.

A real professional who can talk to his listeners which is more than a rarity.

Shocked to hear this news, but - like others - had feared something like this.

One of *the* finest broadcasters around, able to bring out the absolute best from anyone who contributes to the shows. So many wonderful radio highlights to remember - yes of course, the plywood bow tie, Joanne the barmaid and the many things confiscated on the way into football grounds.

Fight it for all you can, Danny, radio needs you.

Captain Danny, I and many others I'm sure, will be looking forward to the return sessions - and will do our best to keep the slot happy. You're my favourite on the radio at the moment.
Always cheerful, full of life, inquisitive, infectious enthusiasm, clutching crazy comments and questions out of the air, making the room buzz.
There aren't many people on the radio that I will purposely turn on to week in, week out. John Peel was one, and you are the other. Both on Saturday mornings, coincidentally. I never missed a show.

I've followed you ever since you wrote great columns and one-liners, the three dots, etc in NME in the 70's.
Then on the original Radio 5, then your Ö÷²¥´óÐã TV chat show (I remember you had Squeeze on and you said you were trying to get Marshall Crenshaw on too - also one of my faves), then 6 - 0 - 6, and now Saturday mornings.

Danny never fails to make me laugh out loud. As a fan for a number of years (right back to those golden early days of 606) I want to echo all the sentiments above.

As a down trodden lawyer I have to work most Saturdays and always make sure that I am doing something between 9 and 11am which does not involve dictation so I can listen to your show.

When I was young you came down to the village of Meopham where I live to look at a Sinclair C5 that the guy next door owned and you stood on my parents drive whilst talking about it. I had a video of it which I watched so many times I wore the video out

Dear Danny or Danny Substitute and Izzy or Izzy substitute.

While sitting at the vet's awaiting the repair of my cat's bloody paw, i was discussing that classic tv show that is sadly missing from current schedules, "Monkies dressed as Famous People (plus Fairground Music)" with my 13 yr old son, Bill.

After coming up with a very average selection of Michael McIntyre, Christine Blakeley and Dawn French, Bill then came up with the comment that this is stupid and that it has never or will never exist.

I then came up with my selection, Elton John, Steve Nallon dressed as Margaret Thatcher and Queen Victoria he chuckled and said it may have potential on the schedules.

His next selection was George W Bush, Mother Theresa of Calcutta and Idi Amin. I think he's getting the hang of this, but still claims it's not a real tv show.

Please correct him and maintain the campaign for its return to the schedules!

Keep fighting for this program to appear on the schedules!

Danny Baker is someone I have held in the highest esteem from the early days of reading his wonderfully funny articals in the music press untill now making me giggle like a silly school boy on saturday mornings. My family and I offer our prayers and very best wishes to Danny and his friends and family. As a west ham fan I know how hard millwall fans fight to win this hammer knows Danny will win this fight and be back making me laugh on saturday mornings. Big love Danny mate

If you read this Danny, can you please consider the awkward quandary I am currently in. What colour cravat does one wear with a Prince of Wales check suit?
