This will be my 1st 'proper royal wedding'. In 1981 i was 17 and was in America at the time of the wedding. I had a great time there but everytime i see a picture of Lady Di's wedding i think to myself..." i don't remember that..!!" Hope they have better luck than Lady Di did.!! God bless.

Why have you not told us what Steve Perryman's nationality is when you feel it neccessary to tell us what John Wark's is?

It has been entertaining so far but I want to agree with Phil, the highlight has been Dennis Mortimer and it won't be bettered. Just wish we could avoid the awful music that is to come.

Funny how the blog gets closed straight ater Jonathon Wall writes one of the most arrogant pieces of self defending 'journalism' imaginable. That The Guradian gave him the platform is indefensible and the fact the blog editors must have known it would kick off a lively debate makes the closure worse. Shame on you all.

Jackstumps is correct. If ever there was a blog subject required, it is one about the consultation with anyone interested in the 5Live and 5Live SE stations. I think it is disgraceful that the viewpoints of listeners and bloggers, tweeters and Facebookers is not recognised on this subject. All the more reason for everyone interested to get on and give it some welly: if you have a point of view, whatever it is, give it!

Just shows up the poor attitude to justified comments at the Ö÷²¥´óÐã/5live by closing a blog down and can't being bothered to start another one up so listeners ( not presenters Mr.Wall as you write in your Guardian piece ) can express themselves.Some of these managers need to be retrained in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã brief to the fact that the Ö÷²¥´óÐã is supposed to be impartial .I don't think I have read a more arrogant or complacent article by anyone who is employed at the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.Passing 5live off as ' light and shade ' is pretty insulting to peoples intelligence.Thats more than worthy of a mention in the online survey.I expect better from the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.

I sincerely hope that after a substantive qualitative review of 5Live, the era of the big personality and trivialisation comes to an end.

Sadly, we're seeing the once sacred Sports programming now being trivialised with the appointment and overuse of Robbie Savage.

And now we learn from the Guardian... that the 5Live "rising star" alledegedly has a someone supporting his bid to win... someone with a lot of disposable income obviously to offer a mini... maybe even a footballer?

"The award is voted for by the public, so the better known names will invariably attract the most votes. Especially if you are football phone-in host Savage, busy urging his 237,000 Twitter followers to vote for him, and mentioning someone's offer of a Mini to one lucky punter who can prove they voted for him if/when he wins. We're not sure what the rules are on encouraging people to vote, but maybe it's time for a change of gear before next year's bash."

Media Monkey has done everyone a favour. Savage should be disqualified from the competition. He is a weak and pathetic "presenter" and someone lacking the vocabulary and ability to enlighten or enhance a listener's experience. But he is a fave of AV-K so he will probably get away with it.

... and being a 'fave' of AVK as you put it Carrie, places him in the same box as Bacon, Murray, Logan, Nolan et al, who are contributing massively to the demise of the station's quality. Not to mention Mr Wall's failure to grasp the basics of journalism.

Moz Dee chimes in on the debate that 5Live itself seems keen for us not to have... congratulations to the Guardian for continuing the debate, what a pity it's not encouraged here.

Under the telling title, "No news isn't good news", read the thoughts of the former 5Live supremo --

Thanks for the link ryan.Well that article makes a change from the Mr.Wall one telling us all how great he and 5live is.I can't remember how long I have been banging on about how 5live in trying to be competitive with Talksport, has plunged to the depths of broadcasting associated with TS.TalkRadio or the rebranded Talksport was a really good alternative to speech radio but even that station seems to be in terminal decline as regards standards.5live should revert back to a rolling news service and get rid of the massively egotistical and smug daytime presenters pushing their own views and agenda, leave that to the commercial sector.Its not what my licence fee was intended for.
