Robbie Savage

The former Wales midfielder Robbie Savage retired from professional football last season, and is a regular presenter of 606. You can follow Robbie on

Tip for the title

Manchester United. They may have lost Paul Scholes but they've got Wayne Rooney - he'll be the best player in the league this year. will have an even better second season, and they have a future England captain in Phil Jones. They've added more pace, and it's the most important asset in the Premier League.

Players to look out for

Adel Taarabt. I cant believe he can be that good in the Championship and struggle in the Premier League, like he did at Spurs. I'm really looking forward to seeing him.

One change that would make it a better experience for fans

Players should be allowed to celebrate with the fans when they score and not get booked for it. When you've paid a hundred quid to get in you'd love players to jump in the crowd and celebrate with you.

The team I support

Wrexham - let's just hope they can get their finances sorted and play some games.

Manchester City, because of my friends Sparky (Hughes) and Roberto (Mancini) - I live in Manchester, and I think they'll be United's closest challengers. They'll finish second this season.

Earliest football memory

I remember watching the 1981 with my dad. Tommy Hutchison scored at both ends, and one of them was a diving header.

Guaranteed headline

Possibly during the season, but if they remain without a trophy at the end: 'Arsenal Part Company With Arsene.'

Advice for footballers who use Twitter

Whatever you write, you've got to expect it to be on the front and back of a national newspaper.

How will he do 606 if he is on Strictly Come Dancing? I hope he enjoys a long run on it as it will give another ex-footballer a chance of broadcasting his views.

I just can't listen to 606 with Robbie Savage. He's unbearable. So, along with Richard Bacon in the afternoon, that's another listener 5Live have lost.
Please get rid of both of them.

Agree with Punka. I Don't tune in to 606 when "Listen....PAL" is mouthing off and not letting anyone make their point either. stopped listening to Streaky months ago. So people are divided as to whether Citeh or United (Manchester) will win p'ship. Hope it's neither

Difficult to decide who talks about themselves most

    Agree with Punka !

Unfortunately I heard some of this 606 the other night .When they aren't being disrespectful or taking the mickey out of the callers the behaviour of Savage and his co presenter descends into just being utterly puerile. Can't you do a football phone in which is better than this ? Even TS do these shows better than 5live. Awful radio.Grow up 5live.

Spot on, Binkie. And to think I used to find Alan Green mildly annoying! He's a haven of calm compared to Savage. Wish Danny Baker do 606. He treats his callers with respect (and he's funny). Savage is just plain rude and too full of himself (and not at all funny).

FABREGAS SOLD TO BARCELONA: this is outrageous Savage!

I'm a Man Utd fan but can't help but feel that Gunners fans are getting totally screwed on this one. How can the owners of Arsenal sell their captain on the cheap for £30m? Sounds like a done deal now - I think it's about time clubs hardened up and reminded players they are in (VERY lucrative) contracts for a reason.

Maybe a couple of months playing in the reserves will remind a few of them how fortunate they are to be playing for their respective clubs and think twice about leaving 3 days before the start of a new season...

Frankly, I'm amazed. I said nothing that the great majority would not agree with. But the Ö÷²¥´óÐã makes it's own rules on engagement let is not forget.

  • Comment number 12.

Don't normally listen to 606, (since savage joined ) but decided to listen to an interview with joey barton, and while barton was calm and composed, savage was an absolute joke, why is this guy still on 5live ?

  • Comment number 13.

What kind of an example do 5live think they are setting to younger listeners especially, having Savage on a Ö÷²¥´óÐã national radio station ? This show and his behaviour falls way below any reaonable standards.I wouldn't mind if he was any good as a pundit but he's not.Get someone decent, not someone who only brings to the table his immaturity.Switched off again.
