Barcelona's players celebrate after Real Madrid's Brazilian defender Marcelo scored an own goal during the 'El clasico' Spanish League football match Real Madrid against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid on December 10, 2011

If you鈥檙e not a regular listener to Up All Night on Saturday morning between 2.30am and 4am you鈥檇 be forgiven for asking what the World Football Phone-in is. But if you鈥檝e never had the pleasure of tuning in before, then you鈥檙e missing out.

Not in any way to detract from our 5 live brethren at 606, who will discuss at length the twists and turns of that day鈥檚 play on UK pitches, I believe the World Footy phone in really is something special.

So, for the uninitiated, here goes: each week nestled in the middle of Up All Night, our effervescent host Dotun Adebayo is joined by Tim 鈥淭he Legendinho鈥 Vickery, , and you!

Tim is in Rio, a man so knowledgeable about South American football that he can probably tell you what the reserve goal keeper at had for his tea. Sean hails from Kansas and has enough statistics and facts about that he could almost be classed a . He is also the only member of the team to be able to award you your very own Brazilian shirt name (this is too complicated to explain, you鈥檙e just going to have to listen to find out). Andy is our man in Europe and has an in-depth knowledge of every league on the continent.

Then, of course, there are the listeners, with a regular supply of questions to confound and intrigue.

I started working on the show over two years ago, and I have to confess I had little interest in the ups and downs of players and coaches in far flung places. Now? I鈥檓 hooked.

As well as broadening your footballing horizons next time your club makes an unknown overseas signing I bet you anything that you鈥檒l know more about that player than any of your friends, just by listening to the World Football Phone-in.

This coming Saturday for no other reason than because we really, really wanted to, we鈥檙e putting out a bumper edition of the show. A show so large it will be podcast in two parts (that鈥檚 another point to mention, we have an excellent podcast with some excellent followers).

Everyone will be there, and I think you should be too. Go to bed an hour before you leave work and make sure you get enough sleep to be metaphorically glued to your radio at 1am on Saturday 17 December.

Will people say do you remember where you were when the World Football Phone-in four-hour special was on? No, that would be stupid, but trust me; you do not want to miss it.

I agree with Carrie, I love the World Football Phone-in.

I can't say I heard anything like 4 hours on Saturday morning but I was so pleased when Adrian said that Up All Night was a world football phone-in 4 hour special. Great stuff.

I'm sure our old mate Walsall Chris would have enjoyed it.

As for the World Football phone in, all i can say is fantastic, top top show, shame its tucked away in the schedule, when most people are asleep!!!

Haha thanks Fedster! I loved the old station message board, shame a few more of the old names don't pop up on these blogs.
