This is an insult to the many, many thousands who love non League football.

Talk about reinforcing peripheralisation.

I thought this was bloomin' great when I read the heading.Give me any type of ' grass roots ' football

I'll try again.When I read the heading of this blog I thought this sounded great and 5live was changing its ways.Give me any type of grass roots football over the pampered and massive hype of the Premiership.Then to my dismay discovered the broadcast time of 5.30 am.5live you are an utter disgrace.There is plenty of time in the evening schedules ( given up mainly to people just waffling on and on ) to give non league football more prominence.

5.30 AM??? On a SUNDAY??

Is this some sort of joke? Surely there would have been a space somewhere slightly less insulting instead of the endless and repetitive Premier League chat.
I may listen to it on iPlayer, so I hope it doesn't try and follow the style of the Football League roundup on a Monday night. I don't understand why it needs Mark Clemmit to talk to the footballers in a jokey and matey style they wouldn't dream of the Premier League 'elite'

The above statement from the blog aptly sums up Five Live as well. In short, we haven't got the talent or resources to fill the programme ourselves so please help us out and pad it with guff

Anyone remember Dirty Tackle? That was in the same time spot. It was a great programme but in those days there was no iPlayer which is how most people will hear this new programme.

However I do think it is an insult, but I bet they just took what they were offered.

Thats good. Hide it away where everyone can listen. Whats wrong with giving it maybe the 10-10.30pm slot on say Thursday night (I assume it is just a 30 minute programme)? Or maybe find room for it in the dreadful Sunday evening dirge we have at the moment. I'm passionate about non-league football, but I'm not going to listen at that time in the morning. I guarantee it will last 3 months maximum before being cancelled due to lack of listeners.

Instead of 10pm on a Thursday, it would be excellent on a Friday evening instead of some of 'Kicking Off'
If the pointless blokey 'banter' between Murray & Groves was removed there'd easily be time for a new 30 minute programme. The Friday night preview programme used to be excellent when Ian Payne had journalists in discussion, but now it sounds like a Friday night down the pub.

Agreed mistered5 (post 8). The Murray style of presentation, so woefully exposed at the Olympics, is completely alien to a sensible speech led station.As I've stated before he appears unsackable under this Controller. Makes you wonder if AVK ever actually listens.

Listen ? More likely that 5live management are all out to dinner somewhere, patting themselves on the back and talking about what a great job they are all doing.

The Non League Show was a terrific show on Ö÷²¥´óÐã London and to some extent, we're lucky it has survived by moving to Five Live. But I'm disappointed it's on in such a poor slot (I'll listen to the podcast) and has been substantially reduced in length. Hopefully the show can grow from here - no-one should doubt Caroline Barker's commitment to non-league. Personally, I thought 9pm on a Sunday evening would be a good slot.

I am usually up by 5am, and in the Car by 5.30 so not a probelm for me, however even if i was still in bed, there are so many ways to listen again that it begs the Question, does it really matter, what time it is on. The World Football phone in is broadcast in a graveyard slot but it is still hugely popular.

As you say Fed ( post 12 ) ' there are so many ways to listen again.....' Pity you don't follow your own advice .

Must admit not listened to it yet, but if the intro is anything to go by, i suppose more taekwondo on 5live will be welcome, but hopefully not at the expense of football.

@ msg 14 - much the same as this mornings offering from Stephen Nolan. (In for VD). It's his birthday and he has mentioned it on several occasions - is he expecting us to send cake?

Well done 5live.A small step in the right direction. I take it then that not only will the programme be repeated at 9.30pm this week-end but future week-ends as well ?
When are other sports going to get more coverage on 5live and when will that start ? There is more to life than than the overload of football and in particular Premiership football.More variety of sports is required even at the expense of this tedious, and money led hype.

If the beeb are supposed to be cutting costs why did (the excellent) John Murray have two summarisers for a Championship match last night? I say summarisers - well one was Savage who hit new heights for inarticulousy, poor grammar and inane observations. Not only has this bloke got a face for radio but his presentation - if you can call it that - is unlistenable.

A truly ghastly presenter.

Re Comment 21, it's excellent to get a bit of feedback on the blog and I'll definitely be listening on Sunday night. I know there are other ways of listening to these programmes, but the immediacy of 'live' radio can't be beaten.

Re Comment 23, I couldn't agree more. I heard 15 minutes of last night's match in the car and most of it involved a discussion about fake tans. The contrast was obvious when the action switched to Stamford Bridge and a serious conversation with David Pleat on FOOTBALL.
I don't know anybody who likes Robbie Savage as a serious football presenter and yet FiveLive's controller thinks it's a good idea to call him one of their biggest 'names'

On the subject of ' biggest names '.....they run a trailer on Talksport now for their presenters and guess what ?Included in the trailer they refer to them as their ' biggest names '. As I have said before 5live is so obsessed with Talksport that there now appears to be a cross over affect.I can only imagine that Moz Dee and AVK went to the same training school.As for Robbie Savage.......one of my favourite past times was listening to commentaries on the radio but now I can't stand them due to far too much shouting and far too many inarticulate sidekicks who irritate me no end.

I don't know anybody who liked Robbie Savage as a serious footballer.

We all have to accept that Robbie Savage has been contracted to polarise opinion and get everyone's arguing juices running. No-one liked him when he was a player and he himself made a lot about that, and so he is just continuing odious and outspoken behaviour on 5 Live as it pays him a very comfortable living. He is just the pantomime baddie. Boo and move on.

Talkport is run on the basis of presenters acting as wind up merchants , the thing is I expect a better standard of radio than that from the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.5live really doesn't have to reduce itself to that low level of broadcasting.
