The Ö÷²¥´óÐã’s most revealing podcast is back for a second series… with added balls!

Presenter, The Naked Podcast

When you’re naked there’s literally nowhere to hide! People often say: “Yeah, but do you really get naked?”  The answer; a resounding YES!

Boobs, pubes, pits and bits – the whole shebang! Kat and I have been recording The Naked Podcast for almost two years now and we’ve seen each other in the buff more times than we can count but it’s the incredible guests who dare to bare all with us who’ve helped make the magic happen.

But… why naked?

Kat came up with the concept and pitched it to me down the pub (where all best ideas come from, right?) Kat’s mum died from Huntington’s Disease and there’s a 50/50 chance she’s inherited the gene and will develop the disease. That in mind, it seemed bonkers many women waste time worrying about our body image, when there’s life to live. We basically wanted to change the dialogue and get people feeling better about what’s underneath their clothes, so The Naked Podcast was born!

Getting your kit off and recording conversations creates a certain vulnerability and intimacy you simply can’t capture in a conventional interview setting. Our guests, Kat and I have all said the experience leads us to revealing far more than just our skin, often stories and memories we haven’t considered for years. And after a few minutes you often forget you’ve got no knickers on and your knockers out!

Getting the guests

Neither Kat nor I are naturists. Being nude is not something either of us (particularly Kat) felt that comfortable with when we started recording, so trying to convince others to join us we thought might be a challenge… but we were wrong! The amazing women who agreed to appear on the podcast helped us believe in our brave and bold idea!

The first series saw us get our kit off with twenty three incredible females including Sam Cleasby, who lives with an ostomy bag, who told us about her ‘Barbie Butt’, Reverend Kate Bottley revealed she got her bum pinched whilst conducting a funeral, and broadcaster Stephanie Hirst talked candidly about her gender reassignment surgery including what it was like the first time she sat down for a wee!

In the news…or should that be nudes?

We knew doing a podcast with our kit off might cause a bit of a stir but we never anticipated the level of attention it would receive.

We had write ups in the national press, TV appearances and even braved it in the buff on The Jeremy Vine Show! But this paled in comparison to the response and feedback from our listeners. People have been getting in touch with us from across the globe to say how much they’ve been touched by the podcast. The conversations are raw, brutally honest, sometimes rude but most importantly, real.

Our very personal anecdotes about our bodies have seemed to strike a chord with our audience. We’ve been massively buoyed on by beautiful messages from women saying “Thank you. I don’t feel so alone” to men sharing their own stories, to naturists celebrating the fact we are baring all and celebrating the human body. Kat and I feel so incredibly privileged to be part of something so special.

Let’s hear it for the boys

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã have been brave enough to give us a second series so we’ve addressed the question we’ve probably been asked most since we started: “When are you going to speak to blokes?” Step forward Jon McClure from Sheffield band Reverend and the Makers and our courageous comrade Adam Oxley from Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio Sheffield’s sports team.

The pair independently approached us after the success of the first series wanting to be involved – so they stripped off and sat down in Jon’s studio to talk mental health, masculinity and ‘Sunday league todger’!

As well as the lads, series two already has a host of wonderful women on board. We’ve taken the podcast on tour to speak to women outside our native home in the north. This season’s glorious guests include Paracyclist Sally Hurst, Lauren Mahon from the Ö÷²¥´óÐã’s You, Me and the Big C podcast and self-styled “goddess of love” Athena Mae who gives us a beginners guide to BDSM! Oh, and there’s some pussy gazing thrown in for good measure! (So strap yourselves in, you’re in for one hell of a ride!)
