TED and Radio 4 gets underway

Hot on the heels of introducing the cult US podcast Serial to Radio 4 Extra listeners, the digital station and Radio 4 are serving up more seriously big ideas from some of the most inspiring TED talks.

Through a new trans-Atlantic collaboration with the 'ideas worth spreading' organisation TED, hand-picked episodes of - an original radio series produced by TED and NPR (National Public Radio) - will go out weekly on the Radio 4 Extra and monthly on Radio 4.

Presented by NPR host Guy Raz, the themed programmes mix original studio conversations and soundscapes with clips from influential speakers from the TED stage.

First up on 4 Extra this week (January 4) was an hour exploring the source of . Musician Sting shares his wisdom about curing writer's block; scientist Charles Limb explains how studies of the brain can pinpoint the place where creativity is generated; and educationalist Sir Ken Robinson argues that schools are actually killing creativity.
