Death and Nightingales is a three-part drama set over a tense 24 hours.
The series is based on Eugene McCabe’s modern Irish classic and set in the beautiful, haunting countryside of Fermanagh in 1885. It follows Beth Winters on her 23rd birthday after she decides to escape from her limited life and difficult relationship with her stepfather.
Who’s in Death and Nightingales?
Death and Nightingales cast
Matthew Rhys. Most people will know Matthew as Philip Jennings in The Americans, others will recognise him as Daniel Ellsberg in The Post. He plays Beth’s Protestant landowner stepfather, Billy.
Ann Skelly. Ann is known for her role as Rachel Reid in Red Rock and as the titular character in film Kissing Candice. She plays Beth Winters, a young woman who decides to escape her stepfather in an attempt to control her own destiny.
Jamie Dornan. Many will know Jamie from his role as the villainous Paul Spector in The Fall as well as Commandant Pat Quinlan in The Siege of Jadotville. He plays the charming Liam Ward, the man who Beth escapes with.
When’s Death and Nightingales on?
Death and Nightingales airs on Wednesday 28 November at 9pm on 主播大秀 Two.
The series will run weekly for another two episodes.
