Hello there, and how the Dickens are you right now?
Not even a little bad, thank you.

Why the heck should we give a stuff about your band then ;)?
Because we made it to the second album, and we're pleased with it. And we're in the lucky position of not only having to say so ourselves.

When and how did you all get it together to become Gods of Rock?
The band was first a two piece in our home town of Kendal, with a 16 year old Hayden and Ben getting together, writing songs etc. Chris joined on percussion, they took a good look around and once they had, moved to Leeds, where I was living. They asked me to join, I went to one rehearsal, and here I am writing to you. We locked ourselves in a basement and worked things out, then started putting ourselves onstage. We were offered a single with the Bad Sneakers label, which was Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants. Domino heard it and asked if we wanted to make an album. We bit their hand off. Then the work really began. Honestly, it's just about getting to your desk, we've always rehearsed hard.

TOPICAL QUESTION OF THE WEEK - A restaurant in the US broke the world record for the largest meatball this week. But if you had to cook one meal to last you a full year, what would it be...
Either caponata (like a sweet-sour ratatouille with aubergines - delicious), or a big old bucket of fried chicken.

When can we see you over here, peddling your filthy wares?
We're over this week, no less - Wednesday in Belfast, Thursday in Dublin.

NON-LAZY, SPECIFIC BAND QUESTION #1 - We've got to say, even though we're sure you're sick to death hearing about it, Hayden's falsetto certainly makes Wild Beasts stick out. But who's your favourite falsetto-er in rock history and why?
Hayden says Marvin Gaye, I'm inclined to agree.

Your house has been maliciously set ablaze by as yet un-named evil forces, but you have the strength to battle the flames and fumes to rescue one piece of music, what is it and why?
'Calypso is like so...' by Robert Mitchum. It never, never fails to cheer me

Tell us your favourite one-liner...
'Wow, and I thought you were an idiot BEFORE you started talking'.

NON-LAZY, SPECIFIC BAND QUESTION #2 - You guys have had to work your way up the indie popularity ladder. Whats been the major changes to your sound along the way?
We've sort of got more into rhythm, and texture - structuring things like dance music is structured in small repeating parts that come and go. Being braver about tackling traditional song themes. More space in things. Synth pads, delays, reverbs, bongos. Our songs have got more concise. Short version of a long story I suppose.

Tell us this, if your band was a film, which film would you be and why?
'Le Roi et l'Oiseau'. It's a French animated thing that took years and years to make. There's almost no dialogue, and it's half narcissistic, half death-anxious. Very Freudian, very beautiful, very sad, very funny.

Who is the greatest human to have ever lived?
Probably Claude Makelele, though Igor Stravinsky and Angela Carter are also very, very cool.

Lastly, in three words describe life, the universe and everything within it...
You must continue.Ìý
