Your prized rock possession...

Post categories:

ATL | 15:01 UK time, Monday, 15 February 2010

Another week... and another look into the strange world of music obsessive freaks. That'd be us! So we each picked out our most prized rock possession from down the years, opened the air-tight locks and delicately let them out on release for one day. Since we're risking their well being to share with you, how about you reciprocate?

Have you a signed shirt framed? A bit of half eaten toast from your favourite crooner? A sweaty towel from a past legend sealed for its essence? Let it all out.

Share via , email or text (81771 once we get on air at 8pm)!

Various Setlists (95-97) - Rigsy (ATL Presenter)
Rigsy and his setlistsSetlists! Getting them was actually pretty easy, if you could manage to last an entire gig hanging over the barrier and were capable of catching a roadies eye. I'm buzzing today, having found a few gems from the first gigs I ever attended. Setlists from legendary shows in Belfast circa 1995-1997 by the likes of Spiritualized, The Charlatans, Divine Comedy and (what is now my prize possession) - Radiohead (from their June '97 "secret" show) were all in a box in the attic! They'd have stayed there as well, if it wasn't for this blog.

Darragh's Drumstick - Paul McClean (ATL Producer)
Paul and his drumstickSince it's music related and I cant put forward my signed Kenny Dalglish pic of him lifting the European Cup in 1984, it has to be a drumstick which landed on the stage at a Wilt gig in Conor Hall in 2000. It was an ATL gig, so kind of unfair, as I was able to nip up after the gig, having clocked the fact that the stick was on the floor. The former Kerbdog sticksman Darragh probably thought I was a nutter. He may have been right. It sits beside my desk to this very day to remind me of one of Ireland's finest.

Malkmus Message - Warren Bell (ATL Web Legend)
Steve Malkmus, backstage at the LimelightAfter being to see Steve Malkmus & The Jicks at the Limelight, we returned to the nearby flat of one of our number. After a couple of ales, we thought we'd head back round to see if we could meet the great man. The owner of said flat flounced out, preferring his slippers to the miserable weather and the chance of disappointment. We got back in, had a good long chat with Malkmus (top man) and emerged with a video of him slagging our mate by name for not being "rock" enough. Personalised memorabilia - RESULT.

Pumpkins Plectrum - Amy McGarrigle (ATL Content Assistant)
Billy Corgan's plectrumDuring my teenage years I was scarily obsessed with the Smashing Pumpkins (I... um... actually wept when they quit). Thankfully, the end (or what should have been the end) coincided with a final farewell tour and I bought tickets to Glasgow, Manchester and Dublin. During one of the songs at the Olympia gig, I noticed Billy's plectrum bounce away mid riff from his guitar. In slow-mo I seen this beautiful blue pick tumble towards me and land under the chair in front. I lunged forward, wrestling somebody for it, but guess who was victorious?! That's right! Me! The ultimate craze-eyed unhinged fan!

Public Enemy's Pineapples - Paul Hamill (ATL Dance Presenter)
Public Enemy's tour managerI went to see Public Enemy at the Mandela Hall a fewÌýyears ago and accidentally dandered in to their dressing room while heading to the loos, to find a massive banquet of fruit, mineral water, yoghurts and all sorts of not-very-rock-n-roll-rider treats. I spotted a load of copies of the set-list on a coffee table and took one to the dressing room loo for a read. On exiting said loo, I was greated by Public Enemy having a pre-gig group hug, getting all psyched for the show. They broke from the hug to give me the evils, with a 6'6" tour manager shouting "Who the **** are you, boy!?" I decided to exit pretty sharpish, safe in the knowledge I'd a lovely setlist and a photo of some pineapples as evidence of my misendeamour.

I have to say is my FUGAZI drumstick from the art college gig back in the late 80's.....he felt sorry for me when nobody caught me on a stagedive and he recalled that he hadn't laughed as hard when he witnessed it...

Also if I can find it I have an original rude boy ska pencil leather tie with the ska emblem on it

I got Aziz Ibrahim's guitar pick the first time Ian Brown played a solo show in Belfast. My firend went one step further and stole a slice of lime from Ian Brown's drink. It sat mouldering in his room for several years until his mum threw it out when he was at university.
