Axis Of, photgraphed by Chris Flack at punksatonyphil.comYet another new act that has moonwalked onto our radar in the past twelve months and managed to cause quite a fuss in a very short space of time - .

From the North coast and related (both literally and musically) to , the noisy three piece will launch their new single with an ambitious gig in Belfast on May 5th.

Niall from the band takes time out of preparation for said gig to chat to Rigsy, if Rigsy can actually convince him he's not an imposter...

12.31 Niall says: shall we do it on this or msn?

12:32pm Rigsy says: here is fine. whats happenin sir?

12:32pm Niall says: has this started?

12:32pm Rigsy says: ha ha, yeah! why do you need to say something off the record ;-)

12:33pm Niall says: is this really rigsy

12:34pm Rigsy says: yeah!

12:34pm Niall says: ok cool, lets go

12:34pm Rigsy says: does it not say rigsy? anyway.

12:35pm Niall says: is this really rigsy

12:35pm Rigsy says: YES!!!!Ìý you maniac, it's me:! ha ha may 5th then

12:36pm Niall says: yes boi, are you ready?

12:37pm Rigsy says: yes. it's started Niall. So. tell me about may 5th. headlining the limelight is pretty ambitious, you must be buzzing?

12:38pm Niall says: aye its exciting times indeed, a little daunting, the line ups pretty epic if i do say so myself which makes it easier

12:39pm Rigsy says: oh right, i was wondering!, I've been watching it's incredible. is it the non-music interpretation of your music? i.e a wee bit crazy.

12:39pm Niall says: yeah to be honest i've had better feedback about that than any of our songs, very proud i am hmm, i never thought of it like that, but yeah i guess, wait till ye see the video though

12:40pm Rigsy says: the video for the single?

12:40pm Niall says: yeah boi

12:40pm Rigsy says: so there's a proper campaign... massive gig, video, press etc... you guys are doing this RIGHT

12:42pm Niall says: yeah well, we kind of have to, we'll look extremely foolish if 30 people turn up, so we just noted all the way we could increase promotion on the last launch, and a video was definitely part of that

12:42pm Rigsy says: but the video for the single, is that what you meant? are you doing one?

12:43pm Niall says: yeah sorry, aye it should be out this weekend all being well

12:44pm Rigsy says: and the support... lot of respect and love for axis of - i'm sure you could near have had the pick of bands in the country... why those three?

12:47pm Niall says: you'd be surprised, we mulled over so many bands, argued a lot, got turned down a few times, and kind of stumbled on this one, but in all fairness, i couldn't be happier. All great, yet highly diverse and they have all shown a good bit of interest. Which is good because we could of ended up with a band that were their just to bring in a crowd yet would turn up and act like big shots. it's good to have a community feel about a gig, it leads to a better atmosphere. That's what i got from the last one anyways

12:47pm Rigsy says: here's a question for ya. see the way there's so many great bands about at the moment

12:47pm Niall says: yes!

12:47pm Rigsy says: which is class, but you have to be absolutely awesome and work so hard to shine through i.e there's a downside - not ALL these bands can get the attention they deserve, it's just not possible...

12:52pm Niall says: yeah of course, we've always thought that for us to shine through we'd have to work extra hard, especially because our sound isn't the most accessible, though i think if your good enough and work hard enough, people won't be able to escape you so to speak. There may be some awesome bands who, practice everyday, write amazing songs, and then just sit on their holes and wait for people to offer them good gigs, so even though they are undoubtedly a great band, they haven't worked hard enough to get their stuff out their. in my opinion that approach doesn't deserve attention

12:54pm Rigsy says: totally. Ok, before i let ya go....plans for the rest of the year?ÌýI know you guys are looking to conquer dublin

12:57pm Niall says: well, May 5th is essential, we then go on to play festivals such as, Liverpool sound city, Pigstock, eurocultured (manchester). Then doing a 2 week tour of UK in June. then a few southern dates, i'm not sure about Dublin specifically but the south is some where we've neglected for too long so we're looking to branch out majorly, and then destroy the rest of the world oh and not to mention a G session with In case of fire and Plastic rose which should be sweeeeeeet

12:57pm Rigsy says: amazing. can't wait for may 5th dude, good luck with it all over n' out

12:58pm Niall says: thanks a million

Axis Of play The Limelight on May 5th to launch the single 'Port Na Spaniagh'. Support comes from Robyn G. Shiels, Pocket Billiards and Visceral Attack.
