Skibunny.jpgSince partying was first invented in Northern Ireland, Mark and Tanya from Skibunny have been DJing, mixing, remixing and getting up to all sorts in the clubs of Belfast (and beyond). But three years ago the duo morphed into a 'proper' band and are now approaching the release of a debut album.

Of course it's all been building up to a quick online chat with our Rigsy...

*once again, Rigsy's grammar and spelling does not represent that of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.

11:47am Rigsy says: TANYA! How are you, where are you and what can you see?

11:47am Tanya says: I'm fine thanks. just in my flat in Edinburgh, surrounded by CDs and merch!

11:47am: Rigsy says: well this is the thing, we always claim Skibunny are a local band, but how Northern Irish are you these days?

11:47am Tanya says: well one of us is still Northern Irish, one of us is still Scottish....Though I live in Scotland now.

11:47am Rigsy says: thats good enough for us. and the single is coming out on small town america which is kind of a northern irish label....

11:48am Tanya says: YES!

11:48am Rigsy says: How did that come about?

11:48am Tanya says: well, STA had kind of been keeping an eye on our progress for a wee while as we recorded the album so we kept sending them tracks as they were finished and then they offered to put it out so we were very happy about that they are such an amazing bunch of people a great bunch of lads, as you might say

11:49am Rigsy says: they're crazy. IÌýthink andrew ferris (STA Main Man)Ìýis actually five people at least

11:49am Tanya says: hahaha

11:50am Rigsy says: so you're about to go out on tour - seems to be a load of dates - is skibunny pretty much a full time job at the moment for you?

11:50am Tanya says: It does seem to be heading that way at the moment. we've been working so hard over the last year it's great to finally be able to get out on tour to actually play music every night can't wait!

11:51am Rigsy says: how much of the time that you spend on skibunny is creative and how much is business? like a percentage....cause i know merch, tours, promo and all that doesn't magically happen...

11:51am Tanya says: of course. well during the album writing/recording that was 100% creative but once that's all done there's a LOT of business going on

11:53am Rigsy says: you love it

11:53am Tanya says: but through all that we're still remixing and doing new mixtapes so there's still a lot of creative too

11:53am Rigsy says: where's the tour taking you and whats the live set up like at the moment, who plays?

11:54am Tanya says: the tour starts in Inverness tomorrow. Rockness Festival this weekend, headlining the Go North stage on Saturday - got the wellies ready...

then down to London for a run of English dates, then back up for 5 Scottish shows

Will be over in NI early August

11:55am Rigsy says: where in NI?

11:55am Tanya says: just confirmed our slot at the Forfey Festival in Fermanagh. I've never been to that one but have heard great things about it

11:56am Rigsy says: class!

11:56am Tanya says: and the line up is really great

so no doubt we will do some other NI/ROI shows around then

11:57am Rigsy says: are you clued in with the local scene in NI to know which bands you reckon you'd work well on a bill with? or is it more just the bands you like?

11:57am Tanya says: well obviously I've been away for a wee while but I do still follow whats happening and of course I do catch ATL when I can!

11:58am Rigsy says: lolz suck up

11:58am Tanya says: haha. I went to see Two Door Cinema Club in London the other week and Cashier no.9 were supporting so the aftershow was just a bunch of people from NI which was funny

11:58am Rigsy says: so tell us about the selection of tracks on the album and how much of an indicator of what we've heard so far on t'radio is

11:59am Tanya says: yes - the album! 11 tracks. I would say what you've heard so far is a good indicator

12:02pm Rigsy says: in an absolute nutshell then. why do people need skibunny (the band) in there lives at the moment?!

12:02pm Tanya says: ok. the album is called Hugs

12:03pm Rigsy says: ha ha, really?!

12:03pm Tanya says: yep!

and EVERYBODY needs hugs at some point

12:03pm Rigsy says: so skibunny are all about physical contact I LIKE IT

12:04pm Tanya says: the songs mainly come from sad stories but the music is really uplifting in a kind of "it's ok, everything's gonna be alright, here, give us a hug" kind of way

haha that makes no sense does it, I think what I'm trying to say is

12:05pm Rigsy says: it makes more sense than anything i've ever heard before n my life

12:05pm Tanya says: life is pretty rubbish but also it's pretty awesome right? so let's party haha

12:06pm Rigsy says: on that beautiful note, i shall let you go. bet you organize another tour, do a mix and write an EP before lunch fanks Tanya says:!

12:06pm Tanya says: thanks Rigsy

see you very soon!

BYE EVERYONE! xox
