Ward Park 2010 - General Fiasco
Where: Main Stage
Describe in a tweet: Hitting the ground running
The sun is out, the crowd has been patiently waiting since before 3pm and the first notes are stuck in anger by a Northern Irish band. Awesome. 's tails are up and they're ready for this. The grounds aren't at capacity just yet, but this has to be the biggest crowd the mid-Ulster three piece have ever played to and they show no signs of being overawed by the occasion.
'Dancing With Girls' is the opening gambit, followed by 'Please Take Your Time' and 'We Are The Foolish'. Mid-set, Owen shows a pair of brass ones, playing 'Sinking Ships' solo on acoustic. Buildings is suitably epic, showing a band unafraid to push their sound forward, 'Ever So Shy' seems to have Owen straining the upper reaches of his vocal range, but set closer 'Rebel Get By' is sung along to by tens of thousands of temporary Bangor natives. They absolutely nail it.
You Are My Joy: The sheer joy on drummer Leaky's face as he pounds the skins. Legend.
Shut Your Eyes: Stragglers on the outskirts of the crowd, waiting to be impressed. Get involved people, you're at a gig you know!
Ward Park Rating: 8/10
