The Rupture Dogs

Ìý

The Rupture Dogs have been rumbling along nicely and an occasional feature on the ATL playlist. With a new EP and tour planned, the band are now preparing to step it up a notch.

Before any of that, however, we subjected Allan McGreevy from the band to an online chat with our Rigsy. After discussing their favourite tourist attractions in Newcastle, they finally got round to talking about that EP...

Rigsy says: Rigsy says: HELLO. sorry caplocks

Rigsy says:Allan says: Hello there young fellow

Rigsy says: the interbiew has started

Allan says:Ìý interbiew??

Rigsy says: so please don't say words i will find offensive

Allan says: that a new kind of thing?

Rigsy says: yes, an interbiew. don't get fresh with me

Allan says: i wont dude

Rigsy says: at least so early in the interbiew

Allan says: ha ha, no worries. how are u mate?

Rigsy says: yes i'm fine. you're from newcastle, aye?

Allan says: i am indeed

Rigsy says: which is better then.
the mourne mountains (all of them)
the tropicana
the slippery dip (RIP)
or the rupture dogs
actually, put them in order please

Allan says: oh the dip first!! for sure, fond memories of that slippery dip
then of course my band, The Dawgs. then the mourne mountains

Rigsy says: okay

Allan says: and i didnt really care much for the tropicana, I was always too tall for the deep end

Rigsy says: so the rupture dogs are better than a large mountain range but not as good as a medium sized yellow slide

Allan says: yeah, would u not agree?

Rigsy says: I dunno man. I like those mountains

Allan says: awk, they're just ok

Rigsy says: i like the wee nipple at the top of slieve donard

Allan says: newcastle would be nicer without them

Rigsy says: suppose we should talk about your band a bit!

Allan says: if they were gone, there would be a lot less franky's goin caravaning there and blockin up the chippies

Rigsy says: is your new EP any good?

Allan says: we love it, recorded it all ourselves and got it mixed and mastered by our good friend, clark phillips
its very raw..........
and a bit filthy......

Rigsy says: filthy?

Allan says: oh yes, very filthy. ha ha
its a filthy big noise

Rigsy says: why have you turned so filthy. Where did the filth come from? what is at the root of this filth?

Allan says: i dont know, i guess we just "found our sound" as people say

Rigsy says: how filthy we talking? if the new rupture dogs EP was a famous woman

Allan says: well, rigsy. check out a new song of the ep we just uploaded to our myspace and u'll get the picture - tis called 'Hangman'

the woman would probably be a female version of the elephant man
thats how filthy we're talkin

Rigsy says: ha ha, amazing
whens your next gig, is it in downpatrick?

Allan says: it is yes! in Denvers I believe. With the good olde Strait Laces boys

Rigsy says: whats it like down newcastle downpatrick right enough? used to be great, back in the day

Allan says: its not that great for live bands anymore, however, we've started to try and bring back some good olde days by running fort monthly events in The Anchor bar.

Next time your in Newcastle, i'll stick you on the guestlist sure!!

Rigsy says: the anchror's my local!

Allan says: same here!

Rigsy says: so tell me what we need to know about this EP. is it ready to go?

Allan says: it is, but we're releasing it the old school way.

Rigsy says: on tape?

Allan says: ha ha.Ìý no no, slightly more modern. on CD.
It will be available at gigs for £4 or an ep and a tee for £10

Rigsy says: whats the plans with gigs in belfast?
and any plans to leave the country for a show?

Allan says: we tend to try and gig belfast as little as possible

Rigsy says: why?

Allan says: its great playing there, but we dont want our gigs getting stale and no one showing up

Rigsy says: fair enough. lot of bands play belfast way too much

Allan says: we're touring for most of February, across the pond

Rigsy says: on your own?

Allan says: yeah its a full diy tour

Rigsy says: wow
Ìýpretty ambitious

Allan says: sleeping in a smelly van, cooking meals on a gas cooker at the side of the raod
cant wait
:)

Rigsy says: you guys set for that? will youz not kill each other?

Allan says: well, me and gareth will always want to destroy eachother at some point, but thats the brotherly thing
if we did come to blows, i would clearly win..... ;)

Rigsy says: okay our time is up.
end on a high - tell me something amazing

Allan says: how about a joke?? an amazing joke...

Rigsy says: a clean joke

Allan says: this is the best and cleanest joke you'll ever hear
what kind of biscuits fly...............?

Rigsy says: wee plain ones

Allan says: ha ha good work, rigsy :)

Rigsy says: byeeee
