Anyone following us on facebook or twitter will get it by now, we had a blast at Pigstock 2011. We thought that as means of giving us some closure we'd bring you our ten remarkable things about this year'sÌýsouth Down shindigÌý.

10. The Body Popping Maestro -

Who doesn't like the robot dance? Nobody, that is who! The guy who stood at the main stage for the majority of the Saturday body popping was probably the biggest non-hero of the weekend, bar festival organiser Johnny Tate.ÌýWe demand at least a knighthood, if not a canonisation.Ìý

9. The Cinema Screen -

I (Phily) found myself at 4:45am in the morning sitting on my hands, partially shivering but grinning like a fool watching 'The Last Waltz' on a massive cinema screen. Good work Pigstock because if hadn't of been for that many punters may haveÌýharmed each other after having to spend two days in the close proximity of a small tent.

8. The Rupture Pups -

The Rupture Dogs invited two thirteen year old kids up onto stage to play a song during their set. The wee guys leapt up on stage like pro's and busted out some sweet riffage and pounding beats along with a slightly bewildered looking bass player. It was a very heart warming moment and showcases two things. One: The Rupture Dogs are a great bunch of lads. Two: There is a new super breed of child musicians on the way to crush us all. They also managed to cause a commotion during ASIWYFA and Axis Of.. respect.

7. The location -

While it took ATL (or at least the car which Rigsy was navigating) a good 45 minutes more than planned to find the place, there was something very cool about being right in the middle of the middle of nowhere. You can turn it up loud and get up to all sorts....We even had to stop for 5 minutes to allow a sheep herding to progress, in exchange for directions. This was a good deal.

6. The hospitality -

Major props to Johnny and co for looking after ATL and letting us eat up their lovely wi-fi in order to update our site live from Pigstock 2011. The hospitality back fired, though - we felt so at home it was pretty hard getting us to leave. We believe Phily left some tee shirts and pairs ofÌýskimpy undiesÌýthere deliberately in order to get back to the farm.

5. Bands watching bands -

When not playing, pretty much every band on the bill seemed to be buzzing off the festival - watching contemporaries and getting involved. Ian from A Plastic Rose took it too far, maybe....building a human pyramid during Axis Of....

4. The Hog Roast -

Pure porcine goodness unadulterated by any pretence of evil salad. Totally worth typing this from a hospital bed to see if you could live on only hog for the two days. We totted up at least 15 baps of the stuffÌýdevoured in a frankly disturbing manner byÌýteam ATL, and there were only 4 of us.

3. The site -

Well laid out,Ìýeasy to navigate and full of helpful folks.ÌýThe site also seemed to hold up remarkably well given the rain that came, it managed to not turn into Mudstock.

2. The bands -

Normally you expect a mixed bag of performances, but pretty much every single act delivered something special at the weekend. Established bands proved their worth, upcoming stars raised their game and made fresh bids for a shot at the big stage. Some brand new acts alsoÌýbarged their wayÌýonto the radar. Very encouraging indeed!

1. Keeping it Country -

We were in Co. Down, always a traditionally strong area for the music scene, home to the likes of Ash and The Answer and a multitude of others down the years but the North Coast triangle seems to be where its at now (ASIWYFA, Team Fresh, Lantern For A Gale, Bomb City 7, Axis Of, you could even include the absent Strait Laces and argue about LaFaro's eligibility for inclusion in this bunch). Lisburn is making a pretty strong challenge as well with the equally amazing Mojo Fury and Rams' Pocket Radio leading the way. There's a few other scenes developing as well, proving that life doesn't end at once you leave Belfast's street-lights.

We've broken the seal on festival season 2011, we'll see you all in a field over the next four months. Approach with caution.
