Glasgowbury 2011 - LaFaro
G Sessions, 8:50pm
Describe in a Tweet: Herb's gone, but La Faro are certainly not forgotten.
What happened: It's heavy and fierce and delivered with all the vitality you'd expect from them, welcomed with open arms by a ready crowd soaking up all that hard, slicing rock. Jonny Black’s charisma on stage and interaction with the crowd is lively and within the festival spirit, being well observed and self-depreciating. It’s a well-rounded, roaring performance full of churning, thunderous riffs.
Goldstar: To say Tuppeny Nudger is the highlight may seem a cliché, but it's the truth. Blast out the first couple of chords of that chaffing riff, and the surge in the crowd feels like a tidal wave.
Lost At Sea: Covering Katy Perry's 'Kissed A Girl''may be memorable and everyone may know it to sing along to, but there's something decidedly wrong about Jonny singing about how he tasted that cherry chapstick.
