Belsonic 2011 - Example
Wednesday 17th August
supporting Dizzee Rascal
Describe in a Tweet: Now you're talking. Or rapping. Over big synths.
What happened: Example won us over 24 hours ago, tweeting about Belfast shower heads, cheap cinema tickets in the city centre and how he'd turned down six invites to parties (probably) taking place in the Holy Lands.
He's a good lad and he knows exactly what we want - daft party music to wake us up and help us enjoy the most straight-up 'fun' line up Belsonic has this year. 'See the Sea' is an early hint of what's to come - big electro with built in hands-in-the-air. Festival fodder, sure, but we're more than happy to lap up.
Looks Sharp: The likes of 'Watch The Sun Come Up' and 'Kickstarts' are just belter pop songs. Formulaic, some might say, but why be so cynical? We may not remember these tracks in ten years time but just now we're having truckloads of fun as Custom House Square comes alive.
Needs Fixed Up: Hearing Example exclaim 'that's all the s*** songs out of the way, lets play the good ones now' half way through his set was a little….rare. Why waste our time with "s***"?!
Belsonic Rating: 7/10
