We here at Across The Line are more than just a little excited about Christmas. The presents, the movies and the food are the easy bit, but trying to figure out what shows to go to is proving to be a little more difficult. LetÌýRigsy help you out with a handy guide of just some standout shows happening this Xmas. Remember to check out our gig guide for loads of otherÌýchoice gigs!

were in fantastic form Friday past, opening yet another memorable Every time we see them in fact, they're just that little bit better.

Festive rating - 4 stars: For some reason, Silhouette's music soundtracks Christmas cheer rather well. In our head, anyway.

The aptly named Belfast Brawl sees five of the most brutal, riff-tastic bands chug it out. No one expects to make it out in one piece.

FR - 1 star: A 'brawl' - that's not very festive, is it?!

3 - Thursday 22 December
Derry A triumphant return to their hometown for the Japstars after a year that spawned a mammoth album which took them round the world.

FR - 5 stars: Ö÷²¥´óÐãcomings are very festive indeed.

4 - Thursday 22 December
Responsible for a bunch of the sweetest, most singable tunes we've heard in the last few years, this gig could end up becoming some kind of Disney style chorus battle.

FR - 5 stars: These two bands sound kinda Christmassy all year round.

5 - Thursday 22 December

A Christmas party for the ever reliable 'Communion' collective. Even with such a strong triple bill on offer, Napoleon are a good bet to steal the show.

FR - 3 star: Yes Cadets are a little jagged, but Napoleon's own Christmas song performed for the ATL Carol Service was an absolute belter.

6 - Friday 23 December
Kasper Rosa have been chugging along nicely, gathering a fanbase and shaking their sound up a little, even adding vocals at one point. 2012 is their's for the taking.

FR - 3 stars: Not the most Christmassy double bill, but being in a cosy basement with a load of mulled wine could festive things up no end.

7 -Friday 23 December
Rams and Rainy we know inside out at this point, so the real focus is on Katharine Phillipa. Can her live show match the stunning majesty of those wonderful recordings? Apparently so….

FR - 5 stars: They'reÌýall just such lovely people. They'll probably buy the entire crowd a present. 8 -

8 - Friday 23 December
Confirmed last night as the 'secret' act playing Animal Disco's second Christmas party, General Fiasco should be in the form of their lives, having reinvented themselves and set up a marvellous 'Chapter 2' for next year.

FR - 2 stars: Animal Disco already had their Christmas party TBF.

9 - Wednesday 28 December

For those who must rock, regardless of the season. Triggerman are arguably the most reliably noisy band in the country, The Bonnevilles are proper old-skool and Gascan Ruckus are the great hope for pop punk in Northern Ireland. A tasty triple.

FR - 1 star: 1 big noisy star.

10 - Friday 30 December

A gentle offering, with three subtly brilliant acts here to spread some Christmas….misery.

FR - 0 stars: Anti-Christmas. Someone needs to do it. Or not do it, if you will.

11 - Friday 30 December

Belfast Celebrating his remarkable achievement of writing a song every day in 2011, Marty Byrne invites notable friends to indulge in a little on-the-spot creativity.

FR - 4 stars: ForÌýthose of you who like making home made presents.

12 - Saturday 31 December
The ultimate NYE party, with the ultimate party band at what will be legendary club night Animal Disco's last ever shindig. Yup, this one is going to go off.

FR - 5 stars: Representing the over indulgent, drunken side to Christmas festivities….
