Ìý

Not so much a gig of the week as an indoor festival…. of the week.ÌýFor several years has been something of aÌýlegendary venue, connected as it is to and a regular haunt forÌýfolks who like watching big bands in small venues. If you've never been,ÌýFriday and Saturday should offer a great introduction to the type of thingÌýthat goes on at The Cellar Bar pretty much all year round.

Dead Wing Promotions (aka Stevie Lennox and Gavin Taylor) have no lessÌýthan 21 bands playing over the two nights - the likes of Ìý(returning with aÌý new line up) and in the back bar whileÌý, and co keep things a little quieter in the frontÌýbar.Ìý

Unfairly, we asked Stevie from Dead Wing to pick his own potentialÌýhighlights from the bill.Ìý'We're really looking forward to seeing how instrumental acid-prog bandÌýThe Institute fare between brass-section driven acts The Dead PresidentsÌýand Pocket Billiards. Newcomers, the anthemic grungy rock outfit The LastÌýGeneration should also have a great set alongside established acts like InÌýCase of Fire and Paul Casey, who we're absolutely delighted about havingÌýin the front bar. Chocolate Love Factory and Cedric Has A Name have someÌýnew material which will no doubt sound monolithic and introspective,Ìýrespectively, in the Cellar too!'

We also spoke to Ryan Lagan from The Cellar Bar, who was full of praiseÌýfor the men behind such an ambitious venture:Ìý'It's absolutely fantastic that a few lads who are still so young have theÌýdrive and determination to pull together such a massive gig. The lads haveÌýa decent future ahead of them in the music scene. Personally i'm lookingÌýforward to Paul Casey in the intimate setting of the front bar.'

So there you go. Two big nights of music, one pretty tiny venue!
