I'm Yasser Rashid the Head of User Experience and Design for TV & iPlayer, Radio & Music. My team work across a range of different digital propositions in the TV and Radio space that include improving current experiences and thinking about future ones.

The launch of Ö÷²¥´óÐã iPlayer Radio in October was an important step in the evolution of Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio online. It's the first time we have been able to think about the future of the radio websites in a holistic way.

For the User Experience and Design team responsible for iPlayer Radio it was more than just a redesign. It was a complete rethink of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio digital portfolio.

We've made a video to give an insight into what we do and who we are. It's only an overview but if you do have any questions about specific user experience topics then it would be great to hear them.

There will be a blog post soon about the iPlayer Radio design process.

What a geat shame the the good news has been completely overshadowed by the complete diaster in the November release when everyone who uses iPlayer went down.
In future, suggest you Test your releases before telling everyone how good you are.

Every time I see something about a redesign I hope that it means the Ö÷²¥´óÐã have decided to move to open web standards. Alas, the fact that I can't even watch the video implies that you are still basing your digital offerings on the use of a proprietary browser plugin. I could install the Adobe Flash plugin on my iMac but I am reluctant to do so because of security issues and the fact that it is rapidly becoming obsolete technology.

I wanted to leave a thoughtful comment about the future of radio, but the irony of the title and the content needs addressing:

    Good job.

As a comment on iPlayer rather than Ö÷²¥´óÐã iPlayer Radio, why can't iD-signed-in iPlayer go to a user's choice of TV or radio, and show a user-chosen station rather than the default Ö÷²¥´óÐã One and Radio 1?

It seems the only way of obtaining one's favourite stations on the Radioplayer console is to accept 3rd party cookies (cookie.radioplayer.co.uk; static.radioplayer.co.uk). Radioplayer is served from a bbc.co.uk server, and it is a legal requirement for the serving party to explain what any 3rd party cookies do and to provide relevant consent mechanisms. Rather than have ICO issue an enforcement notice on you, wouldn't it be easier to address favourite stations with a Ö÷²¥´óÐã cookie?

Is anyone in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã still connected with the design of Radioplayer?

Hi Yasser, A question for you as the Head of User Experience and Design for TV & iPlayer, Radio & Music. Do you think iPlayer for Android and, the not yet released, iPlayer Radio for Android give good user experience and are well designed?

Is there a way to view this video outside the UK? I'm getting a "Not available in your area" message.

There are hardly in points of difference when compared to other internet radio services. The UI/UX is the same.....Is there any other innovative interactive radio service in UK ?
